The goal of Earthwatch is to include people from all walks of life in scientific field research and education to advance the knowledge and behaviour required for a sustainable environment.

Centre for Ecological Research

The primary goal is to carry out excellent research on ecosystems and biodiversity, covering both aquatic and terrestrial life. Since it is challenging to address complex environmental concerns alone, they are striving to unite institutes and specialties. They are devoted to bridging the gap between science and society in addition to conducting research. The Centre consists of three Institutes: Institute of Evolution, Institute of Ecology and Botany, Institute of Aquatic Ecology.

CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research

The University of Porto’s Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research is a premier research and advanced training facility that is pushing the boundaries of ocean knowledge and innovation. In order to understand the relationships between these processes, comprehend the functioning of the ocean and ecosystems, and understand how they respond to global changes, CIIMAR promotes an integrated approach to ocean and coastal areas. This includes promoting knowledge of the biological, physical, and chemical dynamics of these environments as well as the impact of natural and human activities.

Citizen Science Center Zurich

The University of Zurich and ETH Zurich founded the Citizen Science Center (officially “Competence Center – Citizen Science”, CCCS) in 2017. The Center’s goal is to encourage and assist the implementation of citizen science initiatives that academic scientists and the general public have jointly devised.

The Center offers assistance with community administration, methodology, and digital technologies (web and mobile platforms).

European Citizen Science Association (ECSA)

ECSA is an international organisation that supports and advocates for public participation of science, in Europe. The association is currently hosted at the Museum for Natural History in Berlin, Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Research, Germany. ECSA uses the huge knowledge of its members to advance citizen science as a tool for evidence-based policy and sustainable development. It is accessible to both individual and institutional membership. This creates a link between citizen science and policy and facilitate the two-way flow of knowledge and information between citizens and policy-makers. Their vision is that citizens are recognised and empowered as key actors in promoting and supporting sustainable development in our world.
