Foundations of citizen science; SciStarter

It is a public platform working with the aim of promoting citizen science and its use in research. Funded by the National institute of medicine and similar departments and univrsities, Scistarter is organising an online, free training programme on citizen science.

This training will cover the basics of observations, Data collection, Data curation and analysis. After completing the programme they are offering follow up programmes focusing on different aspects of citizen science.

It is a course (Paid) offered by the futurelearn.com website in association with “We Observe” platform. On this course, you’ll discover many different types of projects and how to get involved.

 You’ll find out how to lead a project, including the best practices for community building, question forming and data collecting.

Edx is another online education platform which offers a course on citizen science. The course is free (limited access to course materials).

 Course will cover areas such as data collection, project planning, data management and result communication.

Citizen Science Starters Kit (Online Citizen Science Training Materials)

It is an open access study material which could be of great help in guiding anyone to start and design a citizen science project.

This material will provide you with information on what citizen science is, what it is not, how it can be used, what are the dynamics of its possibilities etc.

It is an open access presentation made by Dr. Erinma Ochu describing the role of stories and storytelling in citizen science 

Science communication MOOC

This course explains the importance of science communication. Course will cover research based and practical ideas of effective science communication. It is a free course hosted by edX
